Mohammad Amir joins Nottinghamshire Outlaws as domestic player for Vitality Blast remainder

Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has been signed by Nottinghamshire Outlaws as a domestic player for the remainder of the Vitality Blast 2026, scheduled to run until July 18.

Amir, who represented Pakistan in 36 Tests, 62 T20Is and 61 ODIs during his glittering international career, became a British citizen after obtaining a UK passport last month.

As a result, the 34-year-old will not be considered as an overseas player, the Outlaws said in a statement, adding that the deal includes his participation in any potential knockout matches the side play during the tournament.

"As a British passport holder, Amir will not be counted as an overseas player for the duration of his stay at Trent Bridge, which includes any potential knockout matches that Notts may play," said the club.

Meanwhile, Amir, who has won two trophies in English domestic cricket – Vitality Blast with Essex in 2019 and The Hundred title with the Oval Invincibles in 2024 – expressed profound excitement for joining the Outlaws and shared his commitment to contribute to the team's success.

"I'm really excited to have joined Notts. I've heard lots of good things about this club, and I'm looking forward to it," said Amir.

"I have lots and lots of memories at Trent Bridge, and I know that T20 is all about entertaining the people, so I'll be trying my best to do well for this team and make this crowd happy," he added.

For the unversed, Amir's signing came when the Outlaws are placed second in the six-team North Group standings after winning each of their first three matches.

"The team have played the last three games really well, and I'll be trying to help carry that momentum forward throughout the tournament."

Notably, Outlaws' next match is scheduled to be played on Friday against Kent Spitfires, for which Mohammad Amir will be available for selection, said the club in the statement.
