Lancashire Lightning sign Shadab Khan for remainder of Vitality Blast 2026
Shadab replaces injured Chris Green after Australian all-rounder was ruled out for season
KARACHI: Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan has joined Lancashire Lightning for the remainder of the 2026 Vitality Blast, which resumes on 26 June and runs until 18 July.
The 27-year-old arrives at Emirates Old Trafford as a replacement for Australian all-rounder Chris Green, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to injury.
Shadab, who has previously represented Sussex Sharks and Yorkshire in English domestic cricket, goes straight into the squad for Lancashire Lightning's Vitality Blast fixture against Leicestershire Foxes at Grace Road on Friday evening.
Widely regarded as one of the most experienced T20 players in world cricket, the Pakistan international has featured in 124 T20 Internationals for his country and has played in franchise leagues across the globe.
His impressive T20I record reflects his all-round abilities, having scored 1,009 runs at a strike rate of 144 while also claiming 123 wickets at an average of 24 and an economy rate of 7.4.
The all-rounder expressed his excitement after joining Lancashire Lightning for the remainder of the Vitality Blast, saying he is eager to return to English domestic cricket and represent one of the country's most historic clubs.
He highlighted his previous positive experiences playing in England and looked forward to performing in front of Lancashire supporters at Emirates Old Trafford.
“I am delighted to sign for Lancashire Lightning for the rest of the Vitality Blast. I love playing cricket in England and have really enjoyed my previous stints in the competition," Shadab said.
“Lancashire is one of the biggest clubs in the country, with so much history, and I can’t wait to pull on the shirt at Emirates Old Trafford in front of the home fans,” he added.
Speaking on the signing, Lancashire’s Director of Cricket Performance, Mark Chilton, expressed his delight at securing the services of Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan for the remainder of the tournament.
He highlighting the player's experience and quality as a significant boost for the squad following Chris Green's departure.
“We are really pleased to secure the services of Shadab for the remainder of the Vitality Blast," Chilton said.
“Whilst we were all disappointed to lose Chris Green, being able to bring in a player of Shadab’s calibre and experience – particularly at such short notice – will provide the squad with a timely boost ahead of a key run of fixtures,” he added.
