KARACHI: Experienced all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of India's three-match away ODI series against England, Indian media reported on Saturday.
According to a report, the 32-year-old all-rounder, who missed their ongoing home ODI series against Afghanistan due to a quadriceps injury, is undergoing rehabilitation at the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru since June 2.
Meanwhile, as per the latest development, a source within the cricket board has told the publication that Pandya has not be able to attain the required amount of bowling volume and conditioning and thus need more time to regain complete fitness.
"Hardik has not been able to attain the requisite amount of bowling volume & conditioning required for an ODI format and will require more time to regain complete fitness for an ODI," a source in the BCCI told the publication on Saturday.
The BCCI source further shared that batting stalwart Virat Kohli's selection in the India squad for the England series was subject to his fitness, for which he will undergo a test at the BCCI CoE on June 22.
Notably, the 37-year-old batting maestro had picked up a hamstring injury while representing Royal Challengers Bengaluru in this year's Indian Premier League (IPL) final and subsequently missed the ongoing home ODI series against Afghanistan.
"Kohli is progressing well following his right hamstring injury in IPL-2026, while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore," the sources shared.
"He was assessed by the CoE team in London and handed over the program to continue in the initial phase of rehab. He will report to the CoE on June 22 for further re-evaluation & clearance."
It is pertinent to mention that the ODI series between England and India will get underway on July 14 at Edgbaston in Birmingham, while the subsequent fixtures will be played at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff and The Lord's in London on July 16 and 19, respectively.
