MUMBAI: India have withdrawn fast bowler Mohammed Siraj from their T20I squads for the upcoming series against Ireland and England as part of a workload management plan, with Gujarat Titans team-mate Prasidh Krishna named as his replacement.
According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the decision was taken after discussions between the medical team and team management to ensure the pacer’s long-term fitness ahead of a packed international calendar.
“Following discussions between the BCCI Medical Team and the Team Management, Siraj has been advised a period of rest as part of his workload management programme,” the board said in a statement.
“The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure adequate recovery ahead of a long international season,” the statement added.
Prasidh, who has played five T20Is for India and taken eight wickets at an economy rate of 11, last featured in the format in November 2023 against Australia in Guwahati.
He is also included in India’s ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against Afghanistan starting June 13, while Siraj has been rested from that assignment as well.
Both fast bowlers recently featured in India’s Test victory over Afghanistan in New Chandigarh. In the IPL 2026 season, Siraj played 17 matches for Gujarat Titans, while Prasidh featured in 12 games during their run to the final.
India’s white-ball schedule continues with the T20I series in Ireland followed by five T20Is in England, before further ODI assignments in England, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
India will play two T20Is against Ireland in Belfast on June 26 and 28, before a five-match T20I series in England from July 1 to 11.
