MELBOURNE: Australia have named their squads for the forthcoming white-ball tour of Bangladesh, with Travis Head set to miss the entire trip after being granted personal leave following the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Captain Mitchell Marsh has also been ruled out of the ODI series as he continues his recovery from the ankle injury that sidelined him during Australia's recent tour of Pakistan.

Leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha has been ruled out with a hamstring injury sustained in Pakistan and has been replaced by off-spinner Todd Murphy, who has earned his maiden white-ball call-up.

Matt Short and Ollie Peake have retained their places in the squad after impressing during the Pakistan leg of the tour.

Head was unavailable for the Pakistan series due to his commitments with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL playoffs.

Although initially selected in both Australia's ODI and T20I squads for Bangladesh, he will now be rested from the entire tour as selectors carefully manage his workload ahead of a busy international schedule.

"Travis was initially selected in the ODI and T20I legs of this Bangladesh tour but has subsequently been granted personal leave for both," national selector Tony Dodemaide said.

"We look forward to seeing him again for the top end Test series against Bangladesh."

Marsh was a late withdrawal from the Pakistan series after suffering an ankle flare-up during the IPL. While Australia had hoped he would be fit for the full Bangladesh tour, he is now targeting a return for the T20I series, which begins on 17 June.

With Marsh and Head unavailable, Josh Inglis will continue as stand-in captain after leading Australia in Pakistan. Official ODI skipper Pat Cummins has also been rested for the Bangladesh tour. Inglis is expected to captain the T20I side as well should Marsh fail to recover in time.

Short and Peake were originally selected only for the ODI leg of the Pakistan tour but produced encouraging performances, particularly in Australia's victory in the second ODI. Peake also became the youngest specialist batter to make his ODI debut for Australia.

"We were hopeful Mitch Marsh would be available for the Bangladesh ODI series however he is still returning to full fitness from an ankle injury," Dodemaide said. "Mitch will join the group in Dhaka and begin preparations for the T20I series.

"We're excited to welcome Todd Murphy into the ODI squad for the first time, while it made sense for Ollie Peake and Matt Short to stay with the group following the Pakistan tour."

Murphy, who has played seven Test matches for Australia, returned to Cricket Australia's central contract list earlier this year after being recalled during the Ashes campaign but was unable to secure a regular place in the playing XI.

Australia will also welcome back fast bowlers Xavier Bartlett and Ben Dwarshuis for the ODI series after both missed the Pakistan tour due to their anticipated involvement in the IPL playoffs with Punjab Kings.

However, after Punjab Kings failed to qualify for the playoffs, both players returned to Australia before linking up with the squad in Bangladesh.

Bartlett and Dwarshuis replace Billy Stanlake and Riley Meredith from the ODI squad, although Meredith will remain on tour as part of Australia's T20I squad.
