LAS VEGAS: Gabriel Bonfim produced the most significant victory of his UFC career on Saturday, outclassing former welterweight champion Belal Muhammad over five rounds in the main event of UFC Fight Night.

The Brazilian delivered a commanding performance from start to finish, earning a unanimous decision after all three judges scored the contest in his favour.

Bonfim frequently appeared relaxed and confident throughout the bout, even smiling as he controlled the action against the experienced Muhammad.

After the victory, Bonfim praised his opponent before setting his sights on former UFC champion Jack Della Maddalena.

"This man has trailed a path few have trailed," Bonfim said through an interpreter.

"He took the hard way all the way up to be a champion. I just want to say, 'I admire you a lot and respect you so much.' Jack Della Maddalena, stay ready. You're right there. You're my next opponent. I just got to the top five. I want to be active. You're next."

Bonfim’s triumph extends his winning streak to five fights and strengthens his position among the UFC’s emerging welterweight contenders.

Alongside rising names such as Ian Machado Garry, Carlos Prates, Michael Morales and Sean Brady, Bonfim has established himself as a genuine threat in one of the UFC’s most competitive divisions.

Bonfim outlanded Muhammad 120-91 in total strikes. He opened a cut on Muhammad’s face by the second round and landed a powerful right hand in the third that sent the former champion’s mouthpiece flying across the Octagon.
