PHF denies reports of mismanagement at team's training camp for Pro League

KARACHI: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) on Saturday dismissed the media reports of mismanagement at the national team's training camp for the FIH Pro League at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore.

Earlier this week, reports within local media had suggested that the two national players, Sufyan Khan and Hannan Shahid, were ruled out of the training camp due to injuries, which were linked to the Astroturf at the venue.

Reports further added that captain Ammad Butt and senior player Sufyan had raised concerns over the turf, describing it as slow, while several squad members highlighted difficulties in adapting to the playing surface.

Meanwhile, as per the latest development, the PHF has categorically denied the allegations, asserting that no complaint was made by either players or the support staff during the training camp.

The federation further emphasised that the administrative matters, including accommodation, food and medical facilities, were excellent during the camp.

The PHF also addressed the claims made regarding the injuries of the senior players, stressing that Hannan was already undergoing rehabilitation ahead of the camp, while Sufyan sustained a minor blow, adding that the duo is being looked after in a professional manner.

It is pertinent to mention that the Green Shirts are set to resume their FIH Pro League campaign with a match against Belgium on June 13, while their next fixture is scheduled against Spain the following day.

Notably, the PHF also shared travel guidelines for the Pakistan squad, clarifying that only technical staff will accompany the players to Belgium.
