MANCHESTER: Napoli on Wednesday confirmed the signing of Denmark striker Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United on a permanent deal for a fee of €50 million ($58.08 million) after a successful loan spell.
The 23-year-old Hojlund ended his 2025-26 campaign with 16 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions for Napoli, who won the Supercoppa Italiana and finished runners-up in Serie A.
The forward, who joined United from Atalanta in 2023, scored 26 goals in 95 appearances for the Premier League club.
He was part of the United squad that won the FA Cup in May 2024. In the final, he came on as a substitute against Manchester City at Wembley.
"Everyone at the club would like to wish Rasmus all the very best for the future," United said in a short statement on the club's official website.
The Denmark international returns to Serie A on a full-time basis after Napoli triggered a mandatory purchase clause.
“SSC Napoli announces that the conditions have been met for the permanent acquisition of the sporting performances of player Rasmus Winther Højlund from Manchester United Football Club.
“Congratulations, Rasmus!” Napoli said in a statement on their website.
United finished third in the Premier League last season under the newly appointed permanent manager, Michael Carrick, who had been their caretaker boss after the Red Devils sacked Ruben Amorim in January.
United will play Champions League after two years absence and the club is looking to rebuild under Carrick to bid for silverware in the upcoming season.
