Abrar Ahmed, Shaheen Afridi climb ICC ODI rankings after Australia series impact

LAHORE: Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed and captain Shaheen Afridi have risen in the latest ICC ODI bowling rankings following strong performances against Australia in the ongoing three-match series, while several other Pakistan players have slipped.

Abrar Ahmed climbed seven places to secure a spot among the top five bowlers, moving up to fourth position with 633 rating points, while left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi advanced four places to 13th from 17th with 593 points.

No other Pakistan bowler made gains. Haris Rauf retained 19th place, Naseem Shah dropped five places to 45th, Mohammad Wasim Jr slipped four to 65th, Mohammad Nawaz fell five to 75th, while Faheem Ashraf moved down one place to 98th.

Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan remains top of the ODI bowling chart, followed by England’s Jofra Archer in second and South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj in third.

No Pakistan batter improved their positions in the ODI batting rankings, with former captain Babar Azam retaining sixth place on 687 points.

Salman Ali Agha slipped five places to 14th from ninth with 638 points, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan dropped three places to 30th, Fakhar Zaman fell two to 33rd, Saim Ayub held 41st, while Abdullah Shafique slipped six places to 99th.

New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell continues to lead the ODI batting rankings, followed by India’s Virat Kohli in second and Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran in third.
