New Zealand to host India for record 12-match cricket series in 2026–27 summer
Indian men’s team will tour New Zealand from 22 October to 1 December 2026
AUCKLAND: New Zealand Cricket has confirmed one of the most anticipated tours in recent memory, with the India national cricket team set to visit New Zealand for a blockbuster all-format series during the 2026–27 home summer.
The tour will run from 22 October to 1 December 2026 and will feature five T20 Internationals, five One-Day Internationals and two Test matches.
The 12-match itinerary is the largest inbound international tour ever hosted by NZC and will be staged across the country’s five major centres.
The New Zealand Government will support the tour as part of celebrations marking 100 years of sporting ties between New Zealand and India.
The series will also mark the return of Sky New Zealand as the host broadcaster of New Zealand Cricket internationals under a new six-season partnership.
The home summer will deliver 42 days of international cricket across eight cities, giving fans nationwide the opportunity to watch both the New Zealand national cricket team and the New Zealand women's national cricket team in action.
NZC Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer Glenn Critchley said the schedule reflects one of the most significant home summers in the organisation’s history.
“It simply does not get bigger than India, and we are determined to deliver New Zealanders a tour like no other,” Critchley said. “This will be about more than just the cricket on the field – it will be a celebration of New Zealand’s shared history and culture with India, and our burgeoning rivalry and friendship through cricket.
Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated India tour of New Zealand, he reflected on the exceptional level of interest the series is expected to generate across the country.
He noted that the presence of global superstars, combined with India’s massive travelling fanbase, would create a unique and high-energy atmosphere throughout the tour, with venues likely to be filled to capacity and demand for tickets reaching unprecedented levels.
“The passion and following this team has is staggering – not to mention some of the players expected to tour such as Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah – so we are bracing for the intensity and fandom that will accompany the tour.
“Experiencing the noise, colour and atmosphere of an Indian cricket international is a bucket-list event and I would encourage the Kiwi public to take up the opportunity to witness it first-hand.”
