Nelly Korda, the world number two, has dubbed the absence of a mixed gender indoor virtual league as ‘unbelievable miss’ after a women competition sponsored by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy was launched.
The WTGL will also be hosted in Florida, as the men TGL, which is already in mid-second season.
The best female golfers in the world will play a season of team matchplay in the SoFi center in Palm Beach Gardens but as the best female golfers, Korda suggested that combining the men and woman events in the team matches was a missed opportunity.
She said that she was disappointed that she had not been part of a historic equal-opportunity moment and thankful that she has the chances she has.
"I have mixed feelings on it, and I'm surprised no other girls have spoken out about it," she said.
"It's a huge and unbelievable miss that we're not playing alongside the men.
"There's no greater way to grow the game, and it would have been revolutionary. It would have been the first time, I think, that men and women are on the same playing field, playing for the same exact amount of money.
"But I also think it's great that we are getting this opportunity, so that's my mixed feelings."
New York GC was beaten by Atlanta Drive 4-3 to claim the inaugural TGL title last year, with the prize pot of £10.39m divided between the two finalists.
The competition, external to this season, started on 28 December and a best-of-three final will commence on 23 March. The date and the prize pot of the women competition is not announced yet, although it is stated that the competition will be held in winter 2026-27.
