American Cody Bellinger, a free agent outfielder, has signed a five-year deal with the New York Yankees valued at 162.5 million dollars to reunite with the club, international media reported on Wednesday.

As per the media reports, Bellinger has a deal that has opt-outs after the second and third seasons, a $20 million signing bonus and a full no-trade clause.

Bellinger is to get compensation of 32.5 million in 2026 and 2027, according to the USA Today article. With the service of agent Scott Boras, Bellinger is currently a free agent after rejecting his $25 million player option in 2026, as indicated by Spotrac figures.

Last season, Bellinger, 30, hit .272 with 29 home runs, 98 RBIs and 13 steals. It marked his first time playing in 152 games since his 2019 Most Valuable Player season with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The flexible defender appeared in 38 games in the middle of the field, 48 on the right and 59 on the left, and three games on the first base throughout the regular season.

In December 2024, Bellinger was traded by the Yankees to the Chicago Cubs in a deal that included the right-hander Cody Poteet. In the 2024 season, he signed a three-year, 80 million contract with the Cubs which had opt-outs after the first and second years.

The two-time All-Star has a lifetime hit of 225 homers and 695 RBIs in 1,157 games with the Dodgers (2017-22), Cubs (2023-24) and Yankees. In 2017, he became the National League Rookie of the Year.
