Karachi Kings have suffered a significant setback ahead of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), with top-order batter Tim Seifert confirmed to miss the tournament.

In a recent interview with a local sports platform after Melbourne Renegades' clash against Perth Scorchers in Melbourne, Seifert revealed that he will sit out this year’s PSL due to other professional commitments.

"I love playing in the PSL, it's always fun. At the moment, I've got an opportunity elsewhere, so I'll be missing this year's edition. But I really enjoyed my last two years in the PSL," he said.

The 31-year-old has been an integral part of Karachi Kings in previous seasons, representing the franchise in 17 matches, scoring 424 runs at an average of 24.94, with a strike rate of 141.33.

Seifert's experience extends beyond the PSL, having played in several international franchise leagues including the Big Bash League (BBL), Caribbean Premier League (CPL), ILT20, Lanka Premier League (LPL) and the Indian Premier League (IPL).

On the international stage, the right-handed wicketkeeper-batter has played four ODIs for New Zealand, scoring 59 runs, and 77 T20Is, amassing 1,850 runs at a strike rate of 142.52, including 12 fifties.

The 11th edition of the PSL is set to take place from March 26 to May 3. This season marks a milestone for the league, as it expands from six to eight teams with the inclusion of new franchises from Sialkot and Hyderabad.

The historic PSL 2026 auction, held at the Jinnah Convention Centre on Thursday, saw FKS Group and OZ Developers secure ownership of the new franchises for Rs1.75 billion and Rs1.85 billion, respectively.
