Kylian Mbappe reacts to Xabi Alonso's exit from Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappe has reacted to Xabi Alonso's departure from Real Madrid as a manager.

Alonso left Madrid by mutual agreement a day after their 3-2 defeat by bitter rivals Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup, the La Liga club said on Monday.

"Xabi Alonso will always have the love and admiration of all Real Madrid fans because he is a Real Madrid legend and has represented the values of our club at all times. Real Madrid will always be his home," the club said in a statement.

After the announcement of Alonso’s exit, Mbappe took to Instagram to write down a farewell message for him.

“It’s been short but it was a pleasure to play for you & learn from you. Thank you for giving me the confidence since Day1. I will remember you as a manager who had clear ideas and knows many things about football. Best of luck for your next chapter,” Mbappe wrote.

While several players were unhappy with Xabi Alonso’s playing method, the French striker was the one who outperformed everyone in La Liga.

Mbappe has scored 29 goals in 25 matches across all competitions for Real Madrid this season under the Spanish manager.

The Real striker came on as a substitute during Sunday’s Supercopa final; however, he sparked a serious controversy for his antics after the match.

During the medal distribution ceremony, Barcelona gave a guard of honour to their bitter rivals, and Alonso also urged the players of Madrid to reciprocate the gesture.

Despite the coach’s instruction, Mbappe appeared to instruct his teammates not to do the same. He was slammed by the Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, for refusing to show respect to Barca players.
