Eric Ramsay to return to English football as West Brom head coach

Former Manchester United coach Eric Ramsay is set to return to English football after Minnesota United confirmed on Monday that he will depart the club to take over as head coach of West Bromwich Albion FC.

MNUFC assistant coach Dennis Lawrence will also leave to join Ramsay at West Brom. Since 2024, Ramsay has overseen the Loons’ progress, shaping their identity, culture, and player development, while guiding the team to key milestones and records in MLS.

El-Ahmad highlighted Ramsay’s key role in developing both the team’s performance and its alignment with the club’s ethos.

“Eric was instrumental in shaping a team that reflects the values of our club and our community,” said MNUFC Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Khaled El-Ahmad.

Ramsay reflected on his positive experiences and cherished memories from his time in Minnesota. “We’re incredibly grateful for our time in Minnesota,” he said.

“We’ve made friends for life, experienced a part of the world we may never otherwise have seen, and shared something truly special as a family. Two seasons have flown by, but I’ll look back with nothing but fond memories and real pride in what we achieved together.”

Minnesota United expressed their gratitude to Eric, Dennis, and their families for their contributions to the club and community, and look forward to seeing what they accomplish in the future.
