Tommy Fury has reacted to Jake Paul’s performance against Anthony Joshua, saying it was all for money.
Joshua defeated YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul last time out on December 19 in Miami, where he knocked out the American in the sixth round of the showdown.
The boxing match between Paul and former two-time world champion Joshua was one of the most-watched in recent times.
Many pundits predicted that Joshua would finish the fight in the first few rounds, but the fight started slowly, with the former champion not looking great.
Paul landed a few shots, but Joshua, who gathered momentum later in the match, was good enough to land a knockout blow in the sixth round, which also broke American’s jaw in two places.
Speaking to iFL TV, Fury shared his opinion on the controversial fight between his former rival and Joshua, saying it was like him fighting Usyk, suggesting there was no match and it was all for money.
“Listen, it’s all money isn’t it? Money and [expletive] and whatever like that. It’s like me fighting Usyk or something like, it’s just bollocks isn’t it? You know, that’s all it was. It’s just grabbing people’s attention, it sells and that’s it,” Fury said.
“As a boxing term, you cant really look into it at all because one man just literally looked like he was on an athletics track running round and round and round, and AJ well he didn’t even really break a sweat did he? So just a load of [expletive] to be honest.”
Following the fight, Anthony Joshua was involved in a car crash in Nigeria late in December in which he lost two of his team members and friends, Latif 'Latz' Ayodele and Sina Ghami.
