LOS ANGELES: The Milwaukee Bucks secured a hard-fought 105-101 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers in the gripping National Basketball Association (NBA) encounter here at Crypto.com Arena on Friday.
Giannis Antetokounmpo played a pivotal role, scoring 21 points and making crucial defensive plays in the final moments to seal the win.
Kevin Porter Jr. led the Bucks with 22 points, while Bobby Portis contributed a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Kyle Kuzma added 13 points against his former team, and the Bucks improved to 2-1 on their four-game road trip, extending their record to 5-2 since December 27th.
The Lakers, despite a valiant effort, were unable to hold onto a late lead. LeBron James had an all-around performance with 26 points, nine rebounds, and 10 assists, while Luka Doncic added 24 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists.
The Lakers found themselves trailing by as many as 12 points in the first half, with the Bucks taking a 61-52 advantage into the break.
But Los Angeles fought back in the fourth quarter, tying the game at 90-90 with just under 7 minutes remaining. LaRavia’s 3-pointer evened the score at 101-101 with 1:22 left.
In the final seconds, Antetokounmpo stole the ball from James to clinch the victory for Milwaukee.
This defeat marks the Lakers’ sixth loss in their last 10 games, while the Bucks continue their strong form on the road.
The Milwaukee Bucks will next face the Denver Nuggets on January 12th.
