MINNEAPOLIS: The Minnesota Timberwolves secured a 131-122 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers here at the Target Center in a thrilling National Basketball Association (NBA) game on Thursday.

Julius Randle led the Timberwolves with an all-around performance, scoring 28 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, and dishing out eight assists. Jaden McDaniels was also instrumental, finishing with 26 points on 11-of-14 shooting.

Anthony Edwards added 25 points, while Rudy Gobert contributed with a double-double, recording 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Cleveland's Donovan Mitchell was a standout performer, scoring 30 points and registering eight assists. Sam Merrill came off the bench to score 22 points, and Jarrett Allen recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Despite the Cavaliers' strong effort, their 33.3% shooting from beyond the arc could not match the Timberwolves' impressive 52.6% from three-point range.

The game saw a dramatic shift in the third quarter, where Minnesota outscored Cleveland 43-22. After trailing by four points at the half, the Timberwolves went on a 9-0 run to start the third, with Randle scoring the first seven points.

McDaniels' hot shooting extended the lead, and despite a late rally from the Cavaliers, Minnesota held firm in the final minute.

Before the game, the Timberwolves honoured Renee Nicole Good, who tragically lost her life in an incident near the arena. Coach Chris Finch called the event an "unspeakable tragedy."

The Minnesota Timberwolves will face the Cleveland Cavaliers again on Friday.
