World heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley has been called to fight Daniel Dubois.
The Briton defeated Joseph Parker on October 25, 2025 and claimed the WBO interim heavyweight title, becoming the mandatory challenger against Oleksandr Usyk.
However, the Ukrainian decided to vacate his WBO belt instead of taking the challenge, and Wardley became the full-fledged champion and is looking for his first challenger in the new year.
Speaking to iFL TV, Dubois' manager, Sam Jones, has said that he is keen to see his boxer take on Wardley.
“I’d love to make the fight with Wardley. This is the thing, Fabio Wardley is the champion so it would be a voluntary defence but again outside of ‘AJ,’ Tyson Fury, Usyk, Dubois is the biggest name for Fabio Wardley to fight which would therefore generate the most money,” Jones said.
“If Fabio gets the Usyk fight then all credit to him, Fabio deserves that opportunity, but outside of those names that I’ve mentioned, Daniel Dubois is the biggest name so if he wants to make that fight we can make it very, very quickly.”
Fabio Wardley’s promoter, Frank Warren, in December, discussed Usyk’s U-turn and suggested the return date of his man, saying he will be in action in the spring of 2026.
“Before the fight, Usyk did say he’d fight the winner,” Warren said.
"And now he’s changed his mind. He obviously feels the risk to the reward isn’t justified. I think we’d have sold out a football stadium for the fight, we could have done the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“But we will see where we go. Fabio will be returning to the ring in April now, I am meeting up with him and his manager next week. We are going to get some lunch and decide what we are doing. There are plenty of options.”
