Former two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has posted his first pictures following a fatal car crash in Nigeria in which he lost two close friends and team members, Latif 'Latz' Ayodele and Sina Ghami.

Joshua was discharged from the hospital on New Year's Eve after sustaining minor injuries in the car accident.

‘AJ’ flew back from Nigeria ahead of Sunday's memorial services in London for Ghami and 'Latz'.

Joshua posted pictures on X and Instagram, which seemed to show him joined by grieving relatives, with the caption: 'My Brothers Keeper.'

For the unversed, Latif Ayodele was Joshua’s personal trainer, and Ghami was his strength and conditioning coach.

Joshua's driver, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, was charged on Friday at the Sagamu Magistrate's Court. The charges include causing death by dangerous driving, negligent and reckless driving, driving without a valid driver's licence and driving without due care.

The case has been adjourned until 20 January.

Joshua’s Lexus Jeep collided with a stationary truck on Monday, which caused the boxer minor injuries, and he was rushed to the hospital after the incident.

A comprehensive statement issued by the Federal Road Safety Corps after the crash said: “The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) wishes to confirm a fatal road traffic crash that occurred today Monday, 29 December 2025, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.

“Two persons sadly lost their lives, one sustained injuries, while two others escaped unhurt. Anthony Joshua was rescued alive and sustained minor injuries.”

The FRSC stated the Lexus was "suspected to be travelling beyond the legally prescribed speed limit", based on preliminary findings.

It added that the car appeared to have "lost control during an overtaking manoeuvre", which was the cause of the crash.
