Sannia Ashfaq responds to Imad Wasim’s divorce filing

Sannia Ashfaq has responded after sharing an emotional statement addressing the challenges she has faced following former Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim’s divorce filing, which ended their six-year marriage.

In her statement, Sannia expressed the pain of losing her family and highlighted the difficulties she has endured as a mother of three, including a five-month-old infant who has yet to be held by his father.

She described her efforts to maintain her marriage despite ongoing challenges, emphasising that the involvement of a third party ultimately led to the breakdown of their relationship.

She revealed that she faced emotional distress, mistreatment, and abandonment, but stayed patient for the sake of her children and the dignity of her home.

Sannia stressed that the divorce process is legally disputed and under scrutiny, and she vowed to ensure that the truth emerges through proper legal channels. She also warned that anyone attempting to intimidate or threaten her will face legal consequences.

Sannia framed her response not as an act of vengeance but as a call for truth and justice—for herself, her children, and other women who may have been forced to endure similar hardships in silence.

For the unversed, Imad took to Instagram to request privacy during this difficult period.

He urged fans and media outlets to avoid sharing old pictures of the couple, clarified that Sannia should no longer be referred to as his spouse, and emphasised his continued responsibilities as a father toward their children.

On the cricketing front, the slow left-arm orthodox bowler represented Pakistan in 55 One-Day Internationals and 75 T20 Internationals.

He scored 986 runs and took 44 wickets in ODIs, while amassing 554 runs and claiming 73 wickets in the shortest format.

He announced his retirement from international cricket in December 2024 and is currently featuring in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season 12.
