First-class tournament to feature eight departmental teams

KARACHI: The upcoming edition of the President's Trophy Grade-I will run from December 28 to February 12, with all 29 matches scheduled to be played across five venues here, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Saturday.

A total of eight teams will be participating in the departmental first-class tournament, which includes Ghani Glass, Khan Research Laboratories (KRL), Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Sahir Associates, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and Pakistan Television (PTV).

The tournament will be played in eight rounds, each comprised of four matches, and after the completion of the league stage, the top two teams will qualify for the final.

The league-stage matches of the tournament will be played across five venues – KCCA Stadium, National Bank Stadium, NBP Sports Complex, SBP Sports Complex and UBL Sports Complex.

The venue for the five-day final, scheduled to be played from February 8 to 12, will be announced in due course.

PTV will enter the tournament as the defending champions and will start their campaign against last edition's runners-up, SBP, at the SBP Sports Complex here.
