Guillaume Rocquelin appointed as successor of Helmut Marko

Red Bull Racing have appointed Guillaume Rocquelin as a successor of their former advisor Helmut Marko, international media reported on Tuesday.

Marko, a veteran figure in Formula 1 who has played a key role at Red Bull Racing since the team’s founding in 2005, after the conclusion of the 2025 season at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, announced that he will step down from his position at the end of the year.

The 82-year-old has been one of the three strong pillars alongside Christian Horner and Adrian Newey, who played an important part in making the Red Bull team what it is today.

Marko’s role at Red Bull was not just restricted to an advisor; he was also responsible for the junior team and the crucial driver decision for the Milton Keynes-based team and its Faenza-based sister team.

With Helmut Marko's separation, questions of who would take the responsibility for the Red Bull junior team were raised; however, GP Blog has now reported that Rocquelin, better known as Rocky, has been given the role.

Rocquelin started his career as an engineer in the IndyCar series in the 2000s. He then joined Red Bull as David Coulthard’s race engineer in 2006.

In 2014, Rocky was promoted to Head of Race Engineering, and after 2022, he took up a position to look after Red Bull’s junior team.

In the last couple of years, Rocquelin and Marko were leading the Red Bull junior team together; however, he was recently confirmed as the independent head of the driver academy.

For the unversed, in the 2025 season, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen finished runner-up behind winner Lando Norris of McLaren by just two points in the same season, which saw Horner sacked as Red Bull team principal after 20 years in charge on July 9, 2025.
