John Cena has announced a new five-year deal with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). He will serve in a new role following his retirement.

Cena will make his final in-ring appearance against Gunther in his retirement match at WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13.

Gunther earned the opportunity to fight Cena by defeating LA Knight in the final of the ‘The Last Time is Now’ tournament during the December 5 episode of SmackDown.

In a post-Raw interview on WWE’s YouTube channel, Cena made public what comes next.

“I will be an ambassador to WWE. I am already signed on for another five years,” said Cena.

“I would like to be in this family as an employee and as a contributing part for as long as I can.”

Cena, 48, said that he could not match the requirements needed in the ring anymore. However, he is looking forward to his next job as an ambassador.

“I can’t match up with the product now, and that’s okay because what I do isn’t who I am,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to the second mountain of being an ambassador because maybe ambassadorship comes with letting more people know to watch (WWE), which was my goal in the first place.”

Since debuting in 2002, Cena has been a cornerstone of WWE, delivering countless iconic matches and moments beloved by fans worldwide. Now, the ‘Never Seen 17’ will take his final bow, with Gunther standing as his last opponent.
