BRISBANE: The Australia men's cricket team on Saturday amassed a unique batting milestone during the third day of the second Ashes Test against England here at the Brisbane Cricket Ground.
The home side, in response to England's 334 all out, enjoyed a dominant outing with the bat as all 11 of their batters scored in double digits and powered them to a 177-run lead.
It marked only the third occurrence in Australia's 150-year Test history that all of their 11 batters scored in double figures, while it happened for the first time in an Ashes and a day-night red-ball fixture.
India and South Africa co-lead the rare list, achieving the feat four times each, followed by Australia and England, who both have done it three times.
Ace pacer Mitchell Starc remained their top-scorer 77 off 141 deliveries with the help of 13 boundaries, while Jake Weatherald, Marnus Labuschagne, Steven Smith and Alex Carey also chipped in with respective half-centuries.
Australia, as a result, also recorded the fifth-highest total in men's Test history without a single player scoring a century, while it was their second-highest, having previously amassed 520 against West Indies in Perth in 2009.
