WWE legend John Cena has shared upsetting news related to his retirement, just before his last match in the promotion.

The 17-time world champion, who is on his retirement tour, lost his match at WWE Premium Live Event (PLE) at Survivor Series 2025 to Dominik Mysterio on Saturday.

The 17-time world champion entered the match as the WWE Intercontinental Champion, but left without the title as Mysterio regained the gold with some unexpected help.

Cena had been on the verge of securing his second victory over Mysterio when Liv Morgan made a shocking return, costing Cena the championship in a stunning turn of events.

Cena will call time on his illustrious career on December 13 this year with his last match, where his opponent will be either LA Knight or Gunther (depending on who wins the Last Time is Now Tournament).

It has been a crazy year for John Cena fans; they not only saw their star’s long-awaited heel turn in WWE, but also witnessed him capture his 17th WWE Championship and become a record holder in the company.

However, any one of his fans who is hoping that Cena would return to WWE for a match or two in the upcoming years, there is some bad news for them, as the legend has clearly said that he is 100% done.

“It has been a crazy year where I announced this like 15 months in advance that I’m going to retire. This has really never been done in WWE history, WWE superstars don’t necessarily ‘retire’ they always kind of hang on for one more match. I am absolutely 100% done,” Cena said.

“The 13th of December on Peacock is my last in-ring performance. I will never wrestle again.”
