Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has said that he wouldn't mind playing the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 behind closed doors, Star Sports reported.

Singh said that while playing the IPL behind closed doors would be far from ideal, something would be better than nothing at least, and it would give the fans something to cheer about during the lockdowns caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Spectators are important, but if the situation arises, I don't mind playing without them. Yes, as a player I won't get the vibe, but this will ensure that every fan will get to watch IPL on their TV," he was quoted as per India Today

The Chennai Super Kings star added that if organisers were willing to go the extra mile of taking medical precautions then the IPL 2020 can be staged.

"We will have to be cautious about everything and should prioritise players' safety by ensuring that the match venues, team hotels, flights are properly sanitized. A lot of lives are on line so we should organise IPL when everything is fine."

The glitzy T20 tournament was initially scheduled to begin on March 29 but was suspended till April 15 as the crisis unfolded across the world.

As of yet, the IPL 2020’s fate remains unclear, even if officials remain hell-bent over staging the tournament whenever the opportunity allowed.
