CEO of the ICC T20 World Cup, Nick Hockley, has said that the governing body will be waiting out the novel coronavirus pandemic and assessing the situation thoroughly before making a final decision, AAP reported.

The T20 tournament, which is scheduled to kick off on October 18, is the year’s most highly anticipated cricket event. However, with the pandemic postponing major sporting events, its fate remains in doubt.

"We're wanting to give ourselves the best possible chance of going ahead as planned, so there's no imminent or quick decision," he said as quoted by Cricbuzz

"Hopefully it's all resolved and we go ahead. In the event that it isn't completely resolved, we are looking at all the different scenarios. Which is only prudent. But for now, we're just under seven months away ... we've got a bit of time."
