Pakistan head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq has said that he still maintains a high fitness standard for himself and can go head to head with his players even at his age.

Misbah, who will turn 46 next month, was known for his high fitness standards during his career, which helped him prolong his career into his 40s.

Now incharge of the national team as a coach, Misbah says his fitness is still good enough. “I still train up to an hour and 45 minutes daily,” he is quoted as saying in Daily Jang. “I might even give my fitness test with the boys.

“I am lucky that I have a modern gymnasium and nets at home. I was unable to train for a few months due to work commitments but I am back working out now.”

He urged his charges to not let their bodies go out of shape during the lockdown caused by the novel coronavirus. He said that while only Imam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam have private gyms at their homes, the rest of the players can also keep themselves fit by working out in their rooms.

“A room is enough to work out and maintain your fitness,” he said.
