PSL 2020: Rashid Latif picks his Dream 11 overdosed with Karachi Kings

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has named his Dream 11 from the unfinished Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020, with a heavy tilt towards Karachi Kings.

“I would start with Karachi Kings and take both their openers (Babar Azam and Sharjeel Khan). I was considering opener Fakhar Zaman as well but I would give the edge to Sharjeel,” Latif said in a YouTube video

“It might be a bit biased on my part,” he confessed, making full disclosure of the fact that as a director of Karachi Kings.

And Latif’s admission of bias was spot on since he ignored Kamran Akmal whose form did taper off as the tournament progressed but he still made more runs than both Sharjeel and Zaman - not to mention that he was the only local century maker in PSL 2020.

“I would play Chris Lynn at number three. He made an outstanding hundred. I would play the hard-hitting Haider Ali at number four. Ben Dunk played a great hand in the PSL and I would definitely add him in at number five. I would take Khushdil Shah in at number six. He is young and I would give him a chance,” he said.

Latif then picked a spin duo that can bat as well.

“Shadab Khan, who had a great outing with both bat and ball, slots in at number seven. Imad Wasim comes in at number eight,” he said.

He then named his pace unit, which again included a Karachi player but the other two pretty much picked themselves.

“Pacers Chris Jordan and Shaheen Shah come in at number nine and ten respectively. I would play fast-bowler Mohammad Hasnain in the side because he was the highest wicket-taker of the tournament.”

More proof of bias came when he named Babar Azam as the captain of his side even though the Kings star was not even the captain of his franchise. Jordan, too, had picked up just nine wickets at an average of 30.33 but still found his way in Latif's XI - perhaps more on the basis of his team affiliation than his death bowling.

In all, Latif's hypothetical line-up had four players from the Kings and just one from league leaders Multan Sultans.
