Karachi Kings and England batsman Alex Hales has denied having tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), calling circulating reports in this regard as "fake news".

Hales' remarks came after journalist Ajmal Jami on Twitter cited Gulf News as saying that Hales had been tested positive.

The cricketer responded to the tweet, saying: "Stop spreading fake news, [this is ] dangerous behaviour."

The journalist, like an Indian publication WIONews, ended up deleting the tweet that had run unconfirmed, inaccurate news regarding Hales.

It is pertinent to mention here that while Hales may not have been infected, The Guardian says that he is in self-isolation after showing symptoms of the virus upon his return to London, having recently taken part in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020.

Hales later issued a detailed statement, saying that while he does have fever and a dry cough, he has not been able to get tested yet.

His symptoms are believed to be the primary reason why the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to call off the tournament earlier today.
