KARACHI: Pakistani runner Fida Mohammad delivered an impressive performance in the AlUla Trail Race, completing the grueling 50-kilometer course in 5 hours, 39 minutes, and 48 seconds.
Competing against 148 other runners, Fida secured an overall 13th-place finish and clinched the top position in the 50-plus age category.
Notably, he was the only athlete in his age group to complete the race in under six hours. The runner-up in the 50-plus category, Fawwaz Algahtani, finished the race in 7 hours, 14 minutes.
The AlUla Trail Race is one of Saudi Arabia’s most challenging endurance events, set in the breathtaking yet demanding landscapes of AlUla, a region known for its ancient heritage and rugged desert terrain.
The 50-kilometer course takes runners through a combination of flat tracks, rocky hills, and deep sand dunes, requiring competitors to demonstrate exceptional stamina, navigation skills, and resilience against extreme weather conditions.
With temperatures fluctuating throughout the race, participants have to carefully manage hydration and energy levels to complete the course successfully.
“I am thrilled to have completed the ultra-marathon in such a strong manner,” Fida Mohammad said. “It was a true test of endurance.”
Fida’s next challenge will be the Riyadh Marathon next month, where he aims to continue his impressive form.
