Former England Test pacer Ryan Sidebottom on Friday, reached Pakistan to nurture the emerging young talent of the country as part of a private coaching project.
According to the details, Sidebottom will coach the country’s U17 players in the first phase of the initiative, followed by the U19 cricketers in the second stage.
The former England pacer acknowledged Pakistan’s vast talent in the sport before sharing that the players are eager to learn.
“Pakistan cricket has always been full of extraordinary talent. The boys here are eager to learn, and that’s a coach’s dream,” Sidebottom said.
“I keep my bowling tips simple and focus on the basics. My goal is for players to challenge themselves in every net session. This is a great learning experience for me as well,” he added.
Ryan Sidebottom further highlighted the legacy of the nation in consistently producing world-class fast bowlers and shared his admiration of left-arm great Wasim Akram.
“As a left-arm fast bowler, Wasim Akram has always been my hero. Pakistan’s history of producing world-class pacers is truly inspiring,” stated Sidebottom.
The former pacer then went on to share his excitement for visiting Pakistan after a gap of 20 years. Sidebottom acknowledged the hospitality of the nation before terming the cuisine ‘exceptional’.
“I am thrilled to be here [in Pakistan] again and enjoying every moment. The people are amazing, and the food is exceptional,” he stated. “I was here 20 years ago, and it’s wonderful to see how cricket in Pakistan continues to flourish.”
