Pakistan’s spin all-rounder Shadab Khan on Tuesday, expressed his excitement for the upcoming 10th edition of the Pakistan Super league (PSL), scheduled to be played in the April-May window this year.
Shadab, who was crowned the Best All-Rounder and the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the marquee league, hailed Islamabad United before revealing his plans for the upcoming season.
“I can’t wait for the PSL to start. Being named PSL’s MVP and Best All-Rounder during the draft was a huge honor, I honestly am lucky that my career started at Islamabad United—a franchise that always looks out for its players. That’s why you see those three trophies here; it’s a team that prioritizes excellence and care for its players,” said Shadab in a statement released by the United.
“This season, my goal is to come back even stronger. While I was the Player of the Tournament last season, my focus isn’t on individual awards—it’s on helping the team win again. I’ve worked on a few things in the off-season, and I hope you’ll see the results on the field,” he added.
The United captain further shared his enthusiasm to work with emerging all-rounder Saad Masood and vowed to groom the latter into a future star.
“I’m also very excited to work with Saad Masood. He reminds me of myself when I was younger. We can’t guarantee him game time, but we can promise to look after him, guide him, and groom him into a future star. For us, the focus with Saad isn’t just this season but his long-term development.
“We know the retention rules will change next year, and even if Saad moves to another team, we want to ensure he’s ready for the future. From personal experience, I can confidently say this is the best franchise for him, and his time here will only benefit him in the long run.”
For the unversed, Shadab Khan played a pivotal role in leading Islamabad United to their record third PSL title in 2024.
He scored 305 runs and took 14 wickets in the previous edition, earning him the Player of the Tournament award.
Throughout his PSL career, Shadab has accumulated 1,240 runs and claimed 91 wickets in 84 matches, cementing his place as one of the league's finest players.
