COLOMBO: The Pakistan Physical Disability (PD) cricket team continued their impressive run in the PD Champions Trophy, defeating hosts Sri Lanka PD by 90 runs at the BOI Cricket Ground.
This victory marked Pakistan PD's second win of the tournament.
Batting first, Pakistan posted the tournament's second-highest total, amassing 212 runs for the loss of four wickets. Their previous high score was 209 runs, also against Sri Lanka PD.
Opening batsman Huzaifa Khan led the charge with a brilliant knock of 67 runs off 53 balls, including six fours and two sixes.
All-rounder Ghulam Mohammad displayed exceptional form, smashing 52 runs off 28 balls, with five boundaries and three sixes.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Saifullah added a quickfire 31 off just 12 balls, featuring three sixes and two fours, while Mohammad Noman remained unbeaten with 19 runs off nine balls, including three fours and one six.
Mohammad Shehzad also contributed with 18 runs off nine balls, hitting three fours.
Sri Lanka bowlers struggled to contain Pakistan's batters, with MIM Akram, Danushaka Weerakkody and Isuro Fernando each taking one wicket but conceding 26, 31 and 42 runs respectively.
Chasing a daunting target of 212, Sri Lanka PD faltered, managing only 122 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs.
Gayan Gunarathne top-scored with 29 runs off 24 balls, including four fours and two sixes, while Dulan Priyashantha remained unbeaten with 26 runs.
For Pakistan PD, medium pacer Shahid Wattoo delivered a standout performance with the ball, claiming 3 wickets for just 18 runs.
Left-arm spinner Waqif Shah supported him well, taking 2 wickets for 23 runs, while Ghulam Mohammad, Hammad Shaukat and Zubair Saleem picked up one wicket each.
At the conclusion of the match, General Secretary of the Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Association, Amiruddin Ansari and President of the Sri Lanka Physical Disability Cricket Association, Lakshan Fernando, presented the Man of the Match award to Ghulam Mohammad for his outstanding all-round performance.
