Pakistan’s rising star Shayan Afridi on Friday, clinched the ITF Asia 14 & Under Development Championship 2025 Week-1 Regional Qualifying Event for South East & East Asia, held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

In an enthralling final, Shayan edged past Singapore’s Pak Nicholas Ming En, the tournament’s second, with a score of 6-3, 6-7(3) and 6-4.

Director General of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), Muhammad Yasir Pirzada lauded the young player for his title victory and reaffirmed the Sports Board’s commitment to supporting the country’s athletes and facilitating their growth on international platforms.

“Shayan’s victory is a testament to the bright future of sports in Pakistan,” said Pirzada.

Shayan Afridi also received the words of acknowledgement from President of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, terming his triumph as a significant milestone for Pakistan in the sport and pivotal in inspiring upcoming talent.

Aisam also expressed his gratitude to Pirzada for facilitating the Pakistan 14 & under team’s tour to Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, other notable performances by the national players include Rashid Ali securing 12th position out of 32 participants in the boys' category, while in the girls’ category, Bismal Zia and Hajra Sohail finished in 6th and 7th positions, respectively.
