Former Pakistan captain and star all-rounder Shahid Afridi learnt the art of Javelin throw from the reigning Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem.
In a video, making rounds on social media, Shahid Afridi was seen learning how to grip a Javelin from Arshad and later went on to throw it as crowd gathered in large number to witness the interaction between the two athletes.
Arshad rose to fame with his ground-breaking throw in the men’s Javelin throw of Paris Olympics, held last year.
Arshad became the first Pakistani to win an individual Olympic gold with his throw of 92.97 meters in his second attempt which was enough for him to secure the gold medal.
The Pakistani also broke the Olympic record, which was previously held by Andreas Thorkildsen of Denmark (90.57m in Beijing 2008).
He also became Pakistan's first Olympic medal winner since Barcelona in 1992 and ended the night with another gigantic 91.79m throw on his final attempt.
As per the latest reports, the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) is planning to organise an International Javelin Tournament later this year, sparking excitement among athletics enthusiasts and raising hopes that Pakistan's Olympic champion, Arshad Nadeem, will be part of the event.
Set to feature the world’s top 10 javelin throwers, this high-profile invitational tournament is eagerly anticipated.
However, the burning question on everyone's mind is whether Arshad Nadeem, the gold medallist at the Paris Olympics, will make his much-awaited debut on Indian soil.
Indian javelin sensation Neeraj Chopra, a two-time Olympic medalist, is expected to personally invite participants for the event.
If Arshad Nadeem receives an invitation, it would set the stage for a thrilling face-off between two of the sport’s biggest stars, sparking a showdown that could captivate fans across the globe.
