KARACHI: Middle-order batter Umar Amin scored his 34th first-class century to put State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in a commanding position against Pakistan Television in the second-round fixture of the President’s Trophy Grade-I here on Wednesday.
The left-handed batter top-scored for the home side with 101 off 137 deliveries, laced with 13 fours and two sixes.
Another veteran, Fawad Alam, contributed with a 99-ball 61, which propelled him to amass the 15000-run barrier in first-class cricket.
Opening batter Imran Butt (78) also scored a half-century as SBP piled up a mammoth 414 in response to PTV’s 93 all out in the first innings.
Mehran Sanwal was the standout bowler for the PTV, courtesy of his five-wicket haul, while Israr Hussain bagged three wickets.
In response, the PTV had scored 52/0, reducing the deficit to 269 runs when the stumps were drawn.
At the Oval Academy Ground, Umar Siddiq’s valiant century kept Eshaal Associates in the hunt against Ghani Glass.
Umar top-scored with 127 off 164 balls, comprised of 19 fours to help Eshaal Associates recover from 149/6 to 293 all out in response to Ghani Glass’s ’ 379 all out.
At the conclusion of the second day’s action, Ghani Glass were 5/0, leading by 91 runs.
In another second-round fixture of the President’s Trophy Grade-I, Khan Research Laboratories acquired a crucial 46-run first innings lead over Higher Education Commission (HEC) despite getting bundled out for a modest 183.
Wicketkeeper batter Saad Baig (66), who scored his maiden first-class half-century and opening batter Naseerullah Khan (61) were the leading run-getters for the KRL.
Young pacer Mohammad Azab led the bowling charge for the HEC with his second first-class five-wicket haul, returning figures of 5-59.
In response, HEC had reached 208-5 and secured a 162-run lead, thanks to an unbeaten half-century from Obaid Shahid, unbeaten on 64.

On day two, SNGPL resumed their first innings at an overnight score of 61/2 but lost eight wickets for 137 runs, despite a half-century from Shahzaib Khan (76).
In reply, OGDCL had slipped to 91/5 in 31 overs at the close of play.
