Multan Sultans' legspinner Imran Tahir on Thursday explained that the reason behind his over-the-top celebration was because he considers each wicket as though it was "his first and last", reported Dawn.

The leggie, whose post-wicket routine sees him sprint and do multiple fist-pumps, said that his passionate celebration was the result of his struggles to make it to the big stage.

"I celebrate each wicket as my first and the last. This is my style and it just happens every time I dismiss a batsman," Tahir told the English daily.

"I have been through tough times along with a lot of sacrifices to reach where I am today. I always wanted to perform at the big stage and now I am living my dream, Allhamdulillah," the 40-year-old added.

Tahir was also widely discussed on social media during the ICC World Cup in England and Wales last summer due to his celebration.

Fans were quick to call out the Proteas star and make memes of his sprint.
