LAHORE: Former Pakistan captain and team director of Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Quetta Gladiators, Moin Khan, opened up on the ‘difficult’ decision of releasing right-arm pacer Mohammad Hasnain ahead of the upcoming 10th edition of the marquee league.
Moin, while addressing a press conference on the sidelines of the star-studded PSL 10 player draft, was probed about the franchise’s decision of letting go Hasnain, who has played all of his six seasons with the former champions.
The former wicketkeeper batter, in response, revealed that it was a difficult decision for the franchise but revealed that it was made with the mutual consent.
“Look, every player is a respected player and Hasnain has performed really well but, as you know the retaining rule that a team can retain only eight players so it is difficult for franchises to release their players,” said Moin.
“But again, there’s nothing like that there is a problem in terms of his skills but he is good and has been picked by another franchise.
“Naturally, every franchise strives to make its combination better to move forward. That was our thought process as well and we released him with mutual consent.”
Moin Khan then went on to extend his well wishes for the pacer to do well for his new franchise and ultimately serve Pakistan at the international level.
For the unversed, Mohammad Hasnain was an integral part of Quetta Gladiators since making his PSL debut in 2019.
He represented the 2019 champions in 39 matches and took 51 wickets at a decent average of 25.09 and the best bowling figures of 4/25.
The right-arm pacer will now represent Multan Sultans in the forthcoming 10th edition, scheduled to be played in the April-May window this year.
