Former cricketer Javed Miandad has, "on behalf of" Umar Akmal’s late father-in-law and legendary legspinner Abdul Qadir, warned the beleaguered batsman to control his antics and clean up his act.

Miandad, in a video on YouTube, requested the 29-year-old’s parents to "control" Akmal, adding that his misconduct was defaming the sport and their respective legends.

"I am warning you on behalf of my late friend and your father-in law [Abdul Qadir] that you better rectify your ways or else I will hold you accountable on behalf of Qadir,” Miandad said.

“You are defaming your country and Pakistan’s former cricketers with your acts. I request Akmal's parents to control their son as he causing harm to his own cricket career."

The commentator reminded the cricketer that his career trajectory could have been on a whole different level, had he been on  his best behaviour.

"You can earn so much money and respect from cricket, yet every now and then you indulge in such cheap antics which are inappropriate," he added.
