South Africa’s former cricketer Hashim Amla on Wednesday lauded Pakistan and Karachi Kings star Babar Azam for his work ethic, also saying that his form for his age was "remarkable" reported Cricket Pakistan.
"Babar Azam is a wonderful player. He is getting better and better. At the young age he is at, he will have to go through ups and downs like anybody but he is a great talent and his work ethic is very good," he said.
Amla, who is currently Peshawar Zalmi’s batting mentor in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020, also revealed how positive his experience in Pakistan had been so far.
"It’s been a very enjoyable trip. To be very honest, the security arrangements have been excellent. We have thoroughly enjoyed how professional everything has been,” he said.
Amla also congratulated Zalmi captain Darren Sammy for recently being chosen to receive the honorary citizenship as well as Nishan-e-Pakistan for his service to cricket in the country.
The former cricketer also joked how he now called the skipper "Darren Sammy-stan".
"Darren has done so much in creating this awareness of bringing international cricket back to Pakistan. It is a fantastic honour for him. We joke about how he is now Darren Sammy-stan. It’s great for him and I think it is a wonderful initiative,” he said.
