Lahore Qalandars can become table-toppers: Usman Shinwari

Lahore Qalandars may have lost two in two in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 but that hasn't dimmed the optimism in some of their players, including fast bowler Usman Shinwari, who still feels that the franchise will not just turn things around, they will be at the top of the table.

“We always finish at the bottom of the table but hopefully we will change that this year and become table-toppers,” Shinwari, who has been woeful and wicketless thus far in the tournament, having conceded 72 run over two matches, was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

While it remains unclear if the interview was taken before or after the Qalandars' latest defeat, Shinwari's comments largely echoed the sentiments of franchise captain Sohail Akhtar's.

It is pertinent to mention here that Akhtar, speaking in the post-match press conference, was not interested in hitting the panic button, non-chalantly saying: "It is just matter of one game. Once we are on the winning track then I think our team will be the best team of tournament, considering our batting and bowling line-up. We still have eight matches to go, so we will try to make a strong comeback."
