Part of the excitement of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is the unveiling of its glittering new trophy.

As the PSL 2020 draws near, here are five facts you probably don’t know about this year’s trophy:

1. Designed by Ottewill Silversmith:

The PSL 2020 has turned to Ottewill Silversmith to design its new trophy. Trophies for the past three editions were made by Swarovski. It is pertinent to mention that the UK-based Silversmith has an extensive trophy portfolio and also designed the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

2. The PSL 2020 trophy will be the one that sticks

From here on, the won't be new trophies each and every year. This year's trophy will be treated like the FIFA and UEFA treats its trophies, with the winner taking it up but made to return in before the next tournament.

3. Features the classic three-dimensional star and crescent:

Like every year, the PSL 2020 trophy will feature the classic three dimensional star and crescent to represent the country.

4. Multi-coloured enamel strips:

The PSL 2020 trophy will feature a bandeau of multi-coloured strips in representation of the country's "vibrancy". This design was also embedded on the PSL 3 trophy.

5. Winning team will have their name engraved:

From this edition on wards, the PSL trophies will have the winning team’s name embossed on it.

The PSL 2020 trophy is set to be unveiled on Wednesday at Karachi's National Stadium.
