Conor McGregor has hinted he may leave the UFC for bare-knuckle boxing after just two more fights in the cage.

McGregor is presently awaiting a new date for his highly anticipated bout with Michael Chandler, which could now be scheduled for UFC 310 on 14 December.

The Irishman would then have only one more fight remaining on the contract he signed prior to his defeat by Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018.

Having invested in Bare Knuckle FC earlier this year, McGregor has asserted that he will make his BKFC debut in the future. "For me, I've got a bit of business left with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, two fights left on my contract. But for sure we have three lightweights up here and I have my eye on all of this. I'm not here up here just as a owner, player-manager I'd title myself on this."

"Make no mistake about it, this is a viable option and in my opinion it's the only option. I don't want to see, nor do I give a f***, about UFC fighter going to PFL or another promotion. You need to break it up, you need to mix it up and come and try something new to try and break into that next level of superstardom, of respect, of money and of power. We have all that at BKFC.

"BKFC is the No.1 in the space by a mile. We are different, we are not like anyone else in the space. Although the UFC is at it's peak and the mega-company it is and the No.1 in its category, we are the No.1 in our category. It's apples and oranges; we lend ourselves well to each other and that's what I really like about it. For me BKFC right now is No.1 in the space and there is no-one close to it."

McGregor was scheduled to face Chandler at UFC 303 in June but withdrew from the fight with just two weeks' notice after breaking his toe during training. Prior to that announcement, the Dubliner disclosed he was in discussions with the UFC about a new contract. " I have two fights left on my UFC contract. We’re currently in negotiation stage with the UFC. Let’s see what happens. Let’s see what takes place," he said.
