India’s legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev on Thursday said that cricket was no longer a "gentleman's game", citing the scuffle between India and Bangladesh during the ICC U19 World Cup 2020 , reported NDTV.
"Who's saying cricket is a gentleman's game? It's not a gentleman's game it was!" he said.
Furthermore, the former cricketer said that cricket boards should be more stringent in disciplining the youngsters, and said that the situation called for the involvement of the teams' managers.
"What happened between those young people I think it was horrible. The cricket boards should take hard steps today so that tomorrow these type of mistakes do not happen," Kapil said.
"Sometimes, if you are an 18-year-old boy, you do not understand. But if you're a manager, that's your responsibility to take care of the situation,"
Bangladesh’s Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain and Rakibul Hasan, and India’s Akash Singh and Ravi Bishnoi were involved in the said altercation and consequently charged with demerit points to their record.
