Pakistan cricket team is out of the T20 World Cup 2024 as they failed to qualify for the Super 8 round with India and the United States of America (USA) making way to the last eight from Group A.

Pakistan relied on other teams’ results as they have only managed to win one of their three group games in the T20 World Cup. They needed the USA to win against Ireland on June 14 but excessive rainfall saw the match abandoned and the USA progressed to the Super 8 round of the tournament.

The cricket world has been reacting to Pakistan’s dismal performance and their failure to qualify for the Super 8 round and India’s Harbhajan Singh has joined the frenzy.

Harbhajan said that Pakistan were not deserving to qualify for the Super 8 due to the kind of cricket they have played in the T20 World Cup.

“The Pakistan cricket team had their fate in their own hands and the kind of cricket they have played (in the T20 World Cup 2024), they were not deserving to progress (in the tournament),” said Harbhajan while talking on an Indian sports channel.

He also applauded the USA’s run in the tournament and called them a better team than Pakistan, “The USA played better cricket than them. They played one match twice on the same day first of 20 overs then of six balls and defeated Pakistan in both. They won outstandingly and it was not a fluke.”

Harbhajan is also not sure how Pakistan will perform in their remaining group game against Ireland in Florida, “Pakistan now have a game against Ireland. Nothing can be said about which Pakistan we’ll get to see in the match.”

He concluded by saying that the great cricketers of Pakistan reacted on Pakistan’s poor performance because they left the team when it was one of the best teams in the world,

"If you talk about Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Saqlain Mushtaq and Inzamam ul Haq, the greats of Pakistan who have left a legacy behind them and they now talk about the team on social media because it is hard for them to watch the condition of the team. They lose to Ireland and the USA and other teams that are not big names in the cricket world.”

Pakistan cricket team will now return home after they play against Ireland in Florida today. Remember, the previous two games — the USA vs Ireland and India vs Canada — scheduled in Florida were cancelled due to rain.
