Indian players engage in scuffle with Bangladesh team after U-19 final

An ugly looking scuffle broke out between Indian and Bangladeshi players after the former lost the Under-19 World Cup final on Sunday in Potchefstroom, South Africa.

In a video of the incident an Indian player can be seen gesturing animatedly in the direction of Bangladeshi players.

According to Hindustan Times, the scuffle was a result of a Bangladeshi player "allegedly" saying some "uncharitable things".

As expected, the show of aggression was not well received by the Tigers, who responded in kind.

The two sides traded barbs and exchanged unsavoury remarks, the culmination of which some shoving and pushing.

However, the umpires and other match officials managed to calm the situation.

Bangladesh captain Akber Ali hinted that his team may have had a part in instigating things, saying: "Some of our bowlers were emotional and were pumped up. What happened after the game was unfortunate. I would like to congratulate India."

Indian journalist Vikrant Gupta also seemed to assign the blame to the new champions, claiming that "[I have] cross checked the stump-mic audio when Bangladesh got the winning run. You can clearly make out the choicest abuses."

Bangladesh won their maiden U-19 World Cup title on Sunday by upsetting four-time and defending champions India by three wickets.
