Jose Mourinho is in advance talks with Turkish club Fenerbahce to become their next head coach on a two-year deal and the Portuguese has already set his eyes on Barcelona’s striker Robert Lewandowski, reported Spanish news outlet SPORT on Saturday.

Fenerbahce confirmed earlier today that they have begun negotiations with Mourinho saying: “Negotiations have started with Jose Mario Dos Santos Mourinho Felix for the position of coach."

With Mourinho joining the Turkish giants is almost a certainty, the former Real Madrid boss wants to raid his old rivals to sign Lewandowski, who is one of the most important players of the Catalan club.

SPORT further added that Fenerbahce’s president, Ali Koc, has approved Mourinho’s request to sign the Polish striker despite knowing the difficulties they will have to face.

Lewandowski made it clear earlier that he is not looking for a way out of Barcelona and wants to stay with the club for next season, especially since he will be reuniting with his former manager, Hansi Flick.

With Barcelona’s financial problems still in place, it would be interesting to see if the Blaugrana will look to sell the striker for a considerable offer.

Remember, despite being one of the most successful teams in Turkish football history, the Istanbul side has not won the league title since 2014 and Mourinho is aware of the challenge waiting for him.

The Portuguese has been out of work ever since getting sacked by his previous club AS Roma after a rough spell as the Italian club was struggling to win matches in the league.

So far in his coaching career, he has coached clubs like FC Porto, Chelsea (twice), Real Madrid, Manchester United, Tottenham Spurs and AS Roma and has won 21 titles as a coach.

He is also the only manager to win the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Conference League.

Mourinho will be working at the Turkish club with one of his former players, Fred, whom he signed at Manchester United in 2018.
