Pakistan women's ODI World Cup participation in limbo after England series defeat

The Girls in Green failed to win a single match on the tour

Pakistan women's team lost the third and final match of the series against England on Wednesday by 178 runs in Chelmsford and their direct qualification for the 2025 ODI World Cup is now uncertain.

The Girls in Green has played their all matches in Women's Championship. They currently have 17 points while Sri Lanka and West Indies have 14 respectively

Three ODI Championship matches between Sri Lanka and West Indies are to be played next month and whichever team wins the two matches will take precedence over Pakistan.

Nida Dar-led side were bundled out for 124 runs while chasing 303-run target. The only notable performances from Pakistan were of Muneeba Ali (47) and Aliya Riaz (36).

English bowlers shined with Sophie Ecclestone taking three scalps for only 15 runs. While Lauren Bell and Nat Sciver-Brunt took two wickets each. Charlie Dean and Kate Cross bagged a wicket each.

Earlier, England had scored 302 runs at the loss of five wickets as Sciver-Brunt struck a magnificent 124 runs off 117 balls with 14 fours and two sixes.

Sciver-Brunt was aided by Danni Wyatt, Alice Capsey and Maia Boucier who scored 44 (42), 39 (42) and 33 (33) respectively.

Umm-e-Hani took two wickets while Diana Baig, Nida Dar and Fatima Sana claimed one wicket each.

Remember, Pakistan lost the first ODI of the series by 37 runs whereas the second ODI was washed out due to rain after just 6.5 overs of play.

They also suffered defeat in the T20I series 3-0.
